It's also called 'Limp mode, the OBDII has detected a fault, serious enough that is goes in to a mode that will allow you to get to a safe place, or home or shop, at reduced speed to prevent more damage. If you are a Do-it -yourself person, take it to a large parts house and ask the to do an OBDII sca, That will eliminate a lot of guessing and buying parts you don't need You will get codes that begin with P, PXXXX and either come back here or go to http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/chevrolet/
