My 2008 impala is making a knocking noise it sounds like its in the dash board. Only started hearing when heat is on or I try and turn heat low

You might have something caught in the blower fan, causing it to be off balance. If that is the case, you will want to remove the cabin air filter and clear out whatever is stuck in the fan. Go ahead and replace the cabin air filter with a new one while you're at it. To get to the cabin air filter and blower fan, you will need to remove the plastic cowl, and the plastic piece underneath it, at the base of the windshield on the passenger side.
