At what mileage is "perform fuel injection service" a part of the maintenance services?

Asked by LMax2013 Apr 17, 2013 at 12:49 PM about the 2008 Toyota Highlander

Question type: General

The local dealer is recommending the above service.  Is it necessary?  At what mileage is it part of the
recommended maintenance schedule?  If it is a necessary service, what are the signs that it needs to be
done?

"Is it necessary?" -- No, it's not usually necessary. It does clean out the fuel system and if you have a misfire caused by deposits on the injector nozzle, it will help. If your engine is running normally, you don't need it. Some places will advise it so they can keep their people busy and turn a profit.

If you have your oil changed on a regular basis, you don't need a engine flush either.
