Problem with 2007 Denali XL inconsistence in starting

Asked by ladyj20639 Oct 12, 2014 at 06:47 PM about the 2007 GMC Yukon XL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I started my truck it thumped as if it would not but I held the key to the start position and it clicked a few times and did.  I parked it for 2 hours and came back and it was dead.  I got a jump and went to an event for 2 hours and it started okay.  The next morning would not start.  I again got a jump. The service battery charging system message and light came on.  I drove it for about 2 hours while store hopping. At final stop it would not start. Sat for 5-7 minutes and tried again and it started after some clicking.  Came home and parked it overnight.  Tried it this morning and it started after some hesitation.  I was told it was the battery and not the alternator because when the positive wire was taken off the car stayed running.  Is there something else that can be causing the problem.  What is included in the battery charging system?

Mike us right. Get both tested. Spend the money and get a good battery. (Not a walmart or autozone cheapy) If its an original GM battery, then its time for a new one anyway. They last about 5-6 years. You got more out of it then that. Be glad you caught the problem now rather than the middle of January.

Why is my "service battery monitoring system" message and light on, yet, I have no problem starting truck. Lights are bright in car and headlghts..never falter. Even monitor system for tire.
