my saab 2007tid sports 9.3 diesel estate airbag light is on is this serious ? and costly

It means the air bags probably won't work in an accident so it could be fatal. Air bags are not cheap but you should look it up.

it is true that your air bags may not work in an accident when the light is present, but many air bag failures are clocksprings in the steering column or the passenger side seat sensor failing. Both of these repairs are not too expensive and then you can feel secure that your air bag system is working properly.
Iv seen somewhere that it could be a loose wire under the seat , iv not yet bought this vehicle but going to test drive shortly the saab is in great condition 2007 tid 9-3 diesel estate with 131000 miles and 11mths mot and hes excepted £700 is that cheap and should I be worried about the airbag light on the dashboard ?
