Why does the oil pressure gauge flop to the high end (bottom of gauge) on my 05 Tahoe?

Asked by Gandalf728 Jan 18, 2015 at 07:47 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This does not look like zero oil pressure.  Moreover, it goes too far all the way to the
lower right area at the bottom of the gauge.  Engine runs well - no indication of oil
pressure problems....just something weird with the gauge?  What are the probable
alternatives?

the gauge rarely, the sender screwed in block to oil passage about a12 dollar part , or a screen in threaded hole for sender completely plugged or loose wire as mentioned
