why does my 2007 torrent overheat?

Asked by yuangao Aug 04, 2015 at 05:15 PM about the 2007 Pontiac Torrent

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced heat sensor, thermostat, bled the air from the system, changed rad cap and still overheats.  it pushes the antifreeze out of the overflow jug. Does not do it when just idling but when car is in motion.

Check your oil and see what color it is, then while running look at the exhaust pipe and look for water or white smoke, then look in reservoir while running and look for bubbles coming up, if the oil looks like a milkshake or you have any other of those symptoms, you probably have a blown head gasket. Depending on where it blew the signs will be different.

had the same thing going on, it was the air in the system. it takes longer than you would think to get it all out after that thermostat BS, also the temp sensor by the thermostat, replace that at the same time. i don't know why mine was bad but it was and all kinda crazy electrical notifications were going on. when you think all the air is out of the system, keep doing it even though its tedious and sucks. it is likely not all out yet. on the brighter side, when you find a car for sale in this condition you can get it cheap because the people are tired of messing with it.
