how to diable seatbelt chime

I have read an article on here somewhere involving the disabling of the seat belt chime by using a 1k ohm resistor to cancel the seatbelt chime but when I called radio shack they ask me what wattage ( 1 watt-1/2 watt or 1/4 watt ) I had no answer also did he complete the circuit between the disconnected wires or connect them to the wires and then to ground the man who replied was name Jason thanks for any and all help in advance
