06 trailblazer dash lights came on after steering rack replacement

Asked by Derek21387 Sep 17, 2019 at 09:11 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I put a new rack and pinion in and shine dash lights
came on.  I think they're for the traction control but
not sure.  I don't think I bumped the abs sensor and
not sure if that would trip it.  Any ideas?

Steering wheel position sensor. Pretty common problem on our platform actually, most of us, just keep the wheels straight when parking. Light won't go on if wheels are parked in a straight position. If that doesn't work, the sensor may need to be replaced.

If parking straight doesn't work, before you go replacing things. Make sure the abs sensors are all in tact and not damaged. Yes, those can trip that, but 9 times out of 10 it's the Steering Wheel Position Sensor.
