the only details i can give is that there is 166,000+ on the car but only 73,000 on the motor

It sounds to me like the transmission is slipping in and out of gear also allowing the car to rev high in the process. This is a common problem with higher mileage cars. I would take it to a reputable transmission repair shop (like AAMCO or Lee Myles) and have them diagnose it. There should be very little cost that my ultimately be applied to the repair (if one is needed).

I have a 99 firebird 3.8 that is making a high pitched squeal that seems to be coming from the drivers side front wheel. It only happens when i start the car cold and only when the wheel is moving whether braking or not. It only lasts about three minutes or so. My best guess was the wheel bearing needing replacement but im not sure if it is coming from the wheel or if it just sounds that way from the drivers seat. It doesnt happen when idling.
