Chevy cobalt won’t shift

2006 cobalt manual transmission will not
shift. Linkage cables seem good but gear
shifter just floats around will not go into any
gears

Sounds like something has broken or come disconnected in the shift linkage or cable. Keep looking.

Yes it definitely could be. And good repair shop should be able to diagnose it for you.
