Tube that threads into front exhaust pipe.

I have a 1987 Nissan Maxima, can anyone tell me the name of tube or pipe that threads into the front exhaust pipe is called? It is about ¾ inch in diameter and runs down near the EGR/Mass air flow location. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
