I have a 2007 Mazda cx7 2.3 liter turbo is there anyone anywhere that can help me an answer the question of is there any reason why did filter housing on my car would blow off the engine or start leaking

the clips that hold the thing down were not fully engaged...it's the only logical answer~...gasoline and combustibles could never make their way all the way up into the intake...unless the motor was going backwards somehow?
