I'm looking at one with 175,000 miles but i don't want to be stuck with expensive repair bills.

With the advent of aftermarket parts, etc., this wouldn't be a hard car to get parts for, however, with 175k miles, I would think you could find a better one for less money and lower miles by looking. That is a lot of mileage for anything.

my cabriolet is strange. I runs great most of the time. Once in a while while driving the rpms fall below 10k and the car bogs down. It take about 45 seconds to get to 45 mph from a stop. When this happens I drive home and park the car. Upon the next start up everything is working fine. I have a new fuel filter, plugs air filter,wires, no vaccum leaks. Your thoughts on whast I could check next? Thank you 2 Answers

I have a 87 VW cabriolet and it really struggles to get up hills, virtually stops when in 2nd gear and has a lot of white smelly smoke coming from the engine... What could be the cause of this?! 2 Answers

Other than going up hills seems to drive fine... Any thoughts??
