Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Right before this happened, the tranny made like a slight grinding noise. the tranny felt like it was slipping. I stopped the car and turned it off to look at the tranny. I saw nothing wrong on the outside that I could see. When I started my car back up it would not move in reverse nor drive.

Dear b_topwn-- I hate top tell you this, but it sounds like you have real problems with the transmission for your 1986 Volkswagen Jetta. It is beyond online diagnosis. Get a good transmission shop to look at it, but expect the worst. Good luck from Bovan.
