where can i find the vehicle identification number?

Asked by katherine Feb 20, 2007 at 11:08 AM about the 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon

Question type: General

The vehicle identification number, or VIN, should be in at least two locations on your Vanagon, katherine. The first and easiest to find is on a plate on top of the dashboard in front of the driver. Note that this is meant to be read from outside the car, through the windshield, so may be hard to read from inside. The VIN should also be under the van, on the frame rail near the front edge of the sliding door. Hope that helps!
