new battery but wont hold a charge,most likely problem? Anybody?

battery itself could have dead cell. spent voltage regulator. dirty, corroded connections at battery, starter, alternator, body grounds. open circuit [usually a faulty ground]. stereo faceplate/memory power drain ...
