If the engine is in stock condition with no modifications you should use regular with a lead additive or equivalent. Premium fuel is for higher compression engines.

Oops. Will it hurt? I may or may not havr put premium gas in my 74 Volkswagen beetle....what now??

Premium will only hurt your wallet, not the engine.

I own a 1973 super beetle 1.6 fully restored. Use regular fuel minus the ethanol. Do not waste your dollars on premium.
