My 1970 VW bug just dies when coming to a stop, what can be the problem

could be several things. couple questions. will the car idle? if no, then check the idle fuel solenoid. if it's bad, no gas at idle. if it will idle, and idle's well, then most likely throttle shaft bushings in the carb. what type carb is on the car, i bet a 34 pict 3!
