First, I'm sorry that you have a 1968 Automatic Stick Shift, how's that working for you, you seriously like it. Maybe I'm wrong, but, my recollection of them is that they are horribly slow and even the manual transmission VW's from the 1960s were never considered fast cars. Now, for the dipstick-. In most cases, you need to get a funnel and pour the fluid directly into the unit thru this channel. Most old cars didn't have a separate port for that like your engine oil. Good luck. The fact that you NEED fluid added is NOT Good. Of course, you might consider taking it to a professional. Are these old VW Auto Stick Shift cars becoming collector's items?

You know, the VW Auto Stick Shift cars came and went so fast, I imagine there is not too many around and the ones that survived are pretty scarce? My biggest concern for owning one would be the scarcity of parts.

Yes, I enjoy the autostick as it is a collectors item. Yes the transmission fluid is low because its an old car and probably hasn't had any for some time. Do you fill the fluid in the same hole as the dipstick on the very right hand side of the engine?

YES, I think so, same hole, but you need a funnel. At least that is what I did on all my old 60s cars, same place where you pulled to check fluid.
