Have 68 beetle Should I sell engin and tran., seperate (rarly used) for more cash or with body? .

rebuilt tran, fairly new 1700cc engin center line rims
Bug caught fire on inside due to high post battery and then was vandelized so body is trashed.

Over the years when I had a vehicle in the shape you described, I always got more for the car when I parted it out. I think the engine (if in great shape) will likely bring $1000. or more complete. One would be hard pressed to get a good rebuild job for less money. The transmission could cost about $800 for a rebuilt. Yours (if in good shape) could bring $500. Anything else on the car that is salvageable will add to the total. The complete car as it now sets probably won't bring as much as the engine's worth. You do have to have the time and desire to part it out. Hope this helps.
