Body needs lots of work  has over 20,000 miles on a rebuilt engin, needs new tires has no carpeting all metal, interior is a bit worn runs ok

That depends on how bad the body actually is. If the body is severely rusted or damaged, you might be better off stripping it down and selling all the parts separately. A good 1600cc engine and transaxle would probably be able to fetch nearly $1000 in Australia, then add on whatever you can get for the suspension, wheels and interior. So basically, you're looking at about $1000-$1500 if you scrap it, or if it's still roadworthy, then whatever someone will pay for it. Not sure where you live so the prices may change depending on how much demand there is for Beetles.
