The Judge got a great answer there- if your '72 Jeep is real clean and original- seems like that's almost a classic- you could also have the engine rebuilt- are you doing it yourself? This would keep the original engine in the car, could be cheaper (especially if you're doin' it yourself), and it saves you a trip to the metals yard to get rid of the old engine- you might want to think about that tranny while you're at it- does it have the same age and mileage as the engine? rebuild or remanufactured, they are both good options

If you want to be absolutely correct with the correct replacement motor this is the one...for some reason that familiar green color they always painted them put them in a different category for reliability...had them on my 72 Chevy Yellow Cab 96 and a few of the Tempco work trucks would buy them as well...that color "pantone 334" I think....will have to verify...actually considered painting my whole car that color~
