1986 Dodge Ram engine choke

My uncle gifted me his old 1986 Dodge Ram
pickup but it jerks and goes fast
unintentionally and my uncle says it needs a
new choke but l can only find info on a
Thermostat choke what could be the
problem?

Could be almost anything in a 34 year old truck. I assume it has a carburetor?

the bimetallic apparatus will break, immobilizing the function of the choke, also there is vacuum assist for that, as I recall, anyways replace the broken bi-metallic spring and you should be good to go~
