how do I get a fair "blue book" value for my charger?

We are in the beginning process of restoring our 68 charger. Our insurance company claims they need proof of the value of it (not just off ones that have sold on ebay), or they can only insure it for next to nothing (about what a fender would cost!) We have parted it out, to start the sanding, and it is in the garage. It is down to bare bones, even though all of the parts that are off it are also in the garage with it. We do need to insure it, because if something happens to the garage, we loose it.
Please let me know if there is some way you know to put a value in writing on it.

Dear my68charger-- That's a tough question. My favorite price guide, www.nadaguides.com, says that your 1968 Dodge Charger could be worth between $8,900 and $37,100. Since this car is not yet restored and is in several pieces, I doubt that the insurance company would refer to those figures. I doubt you will be able to find a solid value basis until you are much further along in your work. The insurable value could well depend on how good your negotating powers are versus the insurance company. Let me know how you do. Good luck from Bovan.

You don't go by blue book on classic cars. A 1968 426 is worth $91,693 https://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/HVT/VehicleSearch/Report?vc=1328156 ..
