Open trunk of 2001 Mercedes CLK 430

Asked by GuruYLZG2 Mar 08, 2018 at 03:14 PM about the 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Have a 2001 CLK 430 and cant get the trunk
opened. The remote, key within the remote, and the
rrunk relaease button on the center console all are
not working. Also determined the fuse is not the
source of the problem. The light on the trunk
release button does not light up when the car is off
or on. After opening up the console, discovered that
switch also controls the windows and mirror and
they work. If I replace that, will it open the trunk?
Thanks.

A test light is a very inexpensive tool its great for checking fuses,I would test ALL fuses first before replace switch.

Ray since your fuse is good, check to see if you hear a click.I had a vehicle that had the same problem. You might have something caught up in there in there keeping stress on the release latch.

Do you have an opening in-between the rear seats to look in the trunk? Perhaps you can see if there is any obstructions. Flashlight and small telescope may help. If there is, try a garden hose to perhaps pull there emergency release if you can get to it. A professional locksmith may be able to get it open without doing any damage to the vehicle. If you have access to another BMZ CLK in the same year or close to it, look at the trunk locking mechanism and see if there is any way to open it through the rear seat opening. hopefully your trunk is more clear of misc. items than my wife. Also, if you can, go on u-tube and see if there is a video about opening the trunk release. Perhaps the cable came undone or broke.
