trying to replace temperature sensor in a 1999 beetle. 2.0 engine. Cannot match new sensor with the old one. Every auto store gives me the same part why?

it may look different but it is probly the same part. New parts tend to advance over the years your car gets older. so if they came out with a better sensor that would be why you get a new different looking one. jsut make sure the holes line up and its approximately the same size or hit up your local vw dealer
