what do i do if the battery is dead?

It died as soon as I turned the engine off.

Hello, You need to find a buddy with jumper cables (or hopefully use your own!) and have somebody jump your engine. Once it is started, let the car idle for about 10-20 minutes while the battery recharges. If you think that the cause of the dead battery is that it needs to be changed, drive yourself to an NTB or similar and get it switched out. Best of luck! CarGrrl
