What is this plug for in the trunk of a 2005 Beetle Convertible

Asked by absaye May 08, 2017 at 10:43 AM about the 2005 Volkswagen Beetle

Question type: Car Customization

Inside the trunk of my 2005 Beetle convertible, is a plug. I've tried inserting a
regular cigarette plug, and it does not work.  Any ideas what this is used for,
and the type of plug needed? Is it a power source? Thanks.
