How to change transmission fluid in a 2005 jaguar x type?

Asked by Chasity Sep 25, 2015 at 03:25 PM about the 2005 Jaguar X-TYPE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When i was replacing the transfer case, happen to loose a good amount of
tranny fluid, so im just trying to find where the fluid goes back in  and how you
check the fluid and its a 3.0 liter. I have it in the air, and i drained the remaining
fluid , because it was really black, and i know tha t engine has to be warm to
about97.6 degrees. I looked and i  found a plug on the left side where the drive
axle comes out fromthe left side front tire?

A 3.0 Jaguar has a self maintained transmission, I have never heard or seen any place to refill transmission fluid, It usually takes a Jaguar Dealer to put the transmission back as it was, Sorry I had the same thing happen to me, around $300 to have it fixed but well worth it

remove your battery box to expose the top of your gear box . there you will find 2 black rubber caps , 1 for the vent and 1 for the refill hole.
