I have a 2002 super duty w/ a V10.  I would like to change the spark plugs but I am not sure how to undo the coil packs.  Can someone give me direction?
Thanks

i dont belive the coil pac has nothing to do with changing out plugs, just pull boot off the spark plug.

Typically these have a small plastic connector which you unplug, and one or two screws that hold them to the valve covers.

Make sure you change the spark plugs and not the fuel injectors, they're quite close and that mistake cost me about $200, lol.

There's not a spark plug boot or coil packs on these. The engine uses coil on plug ignition, so each cylinder has it's own coil. The "boot" is the coil. There's a technical service bulletin out for changing the plugs. Part of the spark plug may want to fall in the cylinder.

The V10 COP (Coil On Plug) set up has a single bolt holding it in. Uses a 7mm socket. It's easier to disconnect the coil before pulling the assy out. When you pull the coil out, at least half the time, the boot comes off. Simply fish it out with a pair of needle nose pliers and put it back on. The plug wells are deep and can hold debris and moisture. Moisture being the main cause of a single misfiring plug. Blow out the well before removing the plug which takes a 5/8 socket. Put dielectric grease on the plug electrodes after they are inserted. You can use dielectric grease or silicone spray on the outside of the boots to get them reinserted. replace the bolt and the connector and you're golden.
