Getting a Ford Fuel pump out of the tank

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2003 Ford F250, 5.4L engine:    I have successfully removed the plastic, black collar off of the fuel pump access hole. Now, I can see the pump housing, but it is attached to the bottom, somehow. I don't know how to remove the housing to remove the pump. And, I know I have to remove the small intake filter at the bottom of the fuel pump. All that to ask: how do I remove the fuel filter housing?

I am looking at parts pictures online and I can't figure it out either. Maybe when you go to the parts store to get a new pump it will be more obvious how it comes up/out of the tank. Many times I will buy the part first so I can see what I'm in for concerning disassembly and replacement.

Thanks, guys. I figured it out on my own by grabbing the bottom of the tabs and pulling them out enough to get over the small keepers on the plastic housing. Frustrations disappeared since squeezing the tabs from the top wasn't working at all. The light bulb went off and I didn't have to seek outside help from the repair shops. Saving over $900 doing it myself was free money!

I, got mine out and replace. Now the truck will not crank, turns over just fine. Also when I turn the key no fuel comes out of the lines. I have a quarter of a tank of gas which is right at the top of the fuel pump. When I turn the key, 2 round screw things spin, splashing fuel up. What are the spinning things? Are they trying to prime and not enough fuel?
