Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is there a place I can get pictures on how to replace a thermostat on a 1994 dodge ram pickup. 1500 series, 360 magnum. I believe the thermostat is the problem. The temperture went into the red then back down, and the heat would work one minute and a couple minutes later, it would blow cold air. Also can this make the truck shutter or act like the tranny is slipping? Could there be a problem with the trans cooler? I haven't looked in the radiator yet because its HOT. What's your take? Thank you.

Dear Ram15-- Always start with the simple repair and see if that works. So, replace your thermostat before you worry about transmission coolers and the more complicated stuff. For that picture you are looking for, go to http://autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?ForwardPage=/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/12/2e/7b/0900823d80122e7b.jsp. I hope it helps. Good luck from Bovan.
