1996 dodge ram 1500 5.9 gas I replaced the battery, but the positive cable where the terminal connector is, was just hanging by a thread. I went to the auto part store but they didn't carry that positive cable. I went to the dealer and they wanted $180. I cut the corrosion and the old connector off and replaced it with a connector I bought from the auto part store. I turn the key on and have power, but there is no spark to the starter. I checked the fuse and it was fine. There are 3 wires that are going to the connector and they are all getting juice, but i'm not getting spark to the starter. Do I need a factory cable??

nah. as long as its the same gauge and fits and you MADE SURE U HOOKED THINGS BACK UP.CORRECTLY no it shouldnt. how did u determine theres no power to the starter? make sure youre not grounding out somewhere and that you hooked.the starter wires up right. everything nice and tight. it may take a little digging to figure it out. security system got you locked out from unhooking battery? make sure theres not some kind of radio code or something. sounds like a bad starter solonoid or starter or both or its hooked up.wrong.
