1997 Dodge ram 1500 wiring problem?

My husband got off work went to start his
truck it wouldnt start. Popped hood there
was a stray cat under hood. He got a jump
start truck started fine. When he next turned
it off and tryed to restart it will only start
with a jump start other wise its just clicking
without a jump. Where would we start to try
to find the problem.

Unsure on age, but i bought a new battery this morning. Hopefully this works my husband doesnt get home from work until middle of the night so i wont know until morning. Thanks

Replace the battery... But first check the starter relay and battery relay.. Then need to check ur alternator output and input..
