HELP!! Oil was low check guages light came on and now won't start. Oil was added (3 litres), it turns over, there is spark but it won't start. It shut off while it was running. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Lori, Lori.... lecture coming: learn how to use a dipstick, for your and your truck's sake. No offense, please? If it was that low, it might have a device that shut if off tp prevent it from destroying the engine. However I do NOT know that for a fact because its a 1998, some vehicles have that, some not. 14 years ago, and it that is less than half of what should be in there. It's not seized if it turns over, that's a good sign. Hopefully somebody else in the forum here will see this that knows if it has an oil-pressure kill switch (when that low you lose oil pressure because there is not enough in the pan for the pump to pick up) and maybe it can be re-set.
