Motor won't idle, what do I need to look for or change? I am not a robot

Truck was partially submerged in water. Water got into the trans fluid some
how and the motor runs good, but won't idle. any suggestions?

"Partially" submerged does not tell us how badly. If water got in to transmission, that indicates it was pretty well flooded, the trans is sealed and I for one am surprised it even starts. Was the water up to floorboards and got in cab? But a 1998 ... what engine? Does it have a distributor? We can probably figure this out
