Maintenance on my Dodge Ram

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 Dodge 2500 4x4 with Cummins diesel.    I am trying a lower maintenance routine on this truck.  Wondering if I am taking big risks.  Transmission is a 47re automatic and I am changing the fluids in diffs, Xfer case and trans every 60k rather the recommended intervals of (I think) around 20 or 30k.  I tow a small boat occasionally.   Any gurus with actual experience using a similar routine have an opinion on this, either good or bad?   BTW, the engine gets an oil change every 3k.

Thanks!

Well for starters the gear oil in the rear should be changed every 15 thoushand (however every 30 on the rear will not hurt at all with it being a dana 60) and the trans i would not really take a chance with especially if you have higher mileage on the truck. ( i have had to rebuild my trans once already) the trans i would recommend every 30 thousand if not sooner. The rest as far and the t-case and the front diff, if you do not do a lot with the truck in four wheel drive you can get away with every 60 thousand with out a problem at all With the oil though for cutting costs or at least to make the costs go another couple months you can go with every five thousand on the oil which is recommended by chrsyler.
