Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok to repeat Dodge, ram 1500, pickup 2003, v6, auto. jumps, jerks, stalls in forward gears. I have been told possibly fuel filter. Also that filter is on tank, one of your answers from a service manager said
"Im the parts manager at a dodge dealership. There is deffinately NO inline filter. It comes with the pump. No need for any type of service on it."  An other answer I got was possibly torque converter. the truck only has a littleover 85K on it.  Fluid level ok and not burnt, etc. If it is the converter I am lookoing as a big b uk job; The fueol filtger is bad enough because of the inconsideratge positioning of it. So, oh great Guru, wjhere do i STAND?

I have a 2005 Dodge ram and I came across the same problem. The fuel filter is in the tank it is a nonserviceable part according to Dodge. Running good clean fuel through it go do gas stations that are busy and if your truck sits for a period of time use fuel stabilizer also in the winter months use gas dryer treatments.

I had a 2003 Dodge Ram V6 that had the same problem with rough idling. My Ram was practically new when the problems occured just as you described, stalling severely, terrible rough idle, bad hesitation starting off. It smoothed out once I was above 15 miles mph. Gas milage was only 10 miles per gallon. I chose the V6 to get better gas milage, boy was that a mistake. I took it back to the dealership 5 or 6 times and they could never fix it. They finally said that rough idleing on the V6 was normal and that when I broke the engine in , 25,000 miles, it would get better. I traded the vehicle in for a Hemi Ram 1500 and love it. It is a great truck and great engine. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that V6 sucks! Get something else!

Wow 6 times at the dealership, you need a new dealership, I have had several dodge trucks with v6 and they never have given me a moments problem, there is no such thing a a 25000 mile break in only undertrained technicians.
