Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Dodge 1500 hemi/5.7 and i had some work done on the intake manifold because it
was plastic or something. My truck wasn't starting some of the time and some of the time it would
start up with no problem! Any way, i got my truck back and my oil pressure went to low then the
check gauge light went on. Then went off and the oil pressure went back to normal. It did it again
and again so by the time i got it home it wasn't sounding to good. Now i went and flushed the motor
with motor flush and oil 2 times to see if maybe i could get the oil pump cleared. I think i might have
to put in another oil pump.??

The oil pumps that come in the Hemi's are good pumps. It almost sounds like you have a cavitation problem at the oil pump. Some other causes could be intake to oil pump fell off, the intake to the oil pump is plugged up or that you do have a bad pump. It's not that bad of a job to pull oil pan and check the pump.

Before diving headlong into the oil pan, try testing or replacing the oil pressure sending unit. I know the one on my 05' Magnum went out causing all kinds of issues, but the oil pump and the pressure were fine.

I hear what your saying, but it was already mentioned that the engine "wasn't sounding good". This tells me that the engine already has suffered some damage and its not just a gauge or sending unit.

the oil pump on these trucks is a gerotor type, depending on how many miles the truck has, it could be shot
