Does your ignition key have a chip in it? It could need reprogramming. It is a common issue in several Chrysler/Dodge units.I would not start fooling around with the trucks computer. If whoever suggested this were to damage one of the many plug in pins you could really be in for a costly repair.Does your truck have excessive mileage?Contact your local Dodge dealer and ask if there are any OPEN RECALLS by submitting your full vehicle identification number to one of thier SERVICE WRITERS.

if it is turning over and not cranking,it may be the fuel pump is out,do you here a humming sound for about 3 seconds from under truck bed when you turn the key switch on,if not,fp is bad.try that befor trying a computer,i doubt that is the problem.also try another battery.

I'm having a problem with my 04 1500. Cranks but no fuel or pressure in the rail. Has 67000 miles. Never a problem before. How likely is the chip key or reader have trouble and how do I check it?

Similar issue... 2004 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.7 Hemi... turn the key to run, all lights come on, then the key to start, won't crank, just getting 1 click, checked all the fuses and relays, everything looks good. Thought it was a bad starter, jumped the starter, starter engages for about half a second to a full second then just spins. Turned the key to start , still 1 click then nothing... I'm leaning towards ignition or computer???
