My chrysler 1998 T&C van turns over 3Xs then nothing

Asked by marilyn_rn Sep 27, 2010 at 07:19 AM about the 1998 Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It starts runs for 2 seconds then stalls. i\It'll do it about 3 times then won't turn over at all. It has a new battery and new wire that goes from the battery to the computer. After it's let set for over night it starts sometimes.  And of course the last time when it was towed for this reason, they got it to the garage and the service engine light was out they hooked it up to the diagnositic tester and found nothing. Any suggestions?

Could you fix the problem ? I have same issue and looking how to fix it if you find please send me email to nasiryilmz@gmail.com

bad starter for one.sounds like your fuel pump may be the no start problem.

You need to check fo bad solder joints on the dash cluster circuit board. If you disconnect the instrument cluster (unlug everything) is should start.

We have had the same problem with our 97' T&C, we have had the battery tested, changed the alternator, changed the started, changed the ignition switch and put in a new computer, we also replaced the fuel filter and it still has changed nothing. For any of you having the no starting problem I would recommend getting your dash cluster checked and see if any wires need to be soldered or replaced because replacing anything else WILL be a waste of your money and time
