Fuel issue i think?

Asked by Robert Aug 22, 2017 at 09:54 AM about the 2001 Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought my 2001chrys t/c 3.8lv6 used
from a buddy and it had sit for IDK how
long before I bought it but it ran great
up until I filled it up with gas for the
first time about a month ago and every
since then I've had nothing but trouble
with it missing and just extremely bad
jumping and jerking like it is not getting
gas so I put some Lucas gas treatment
in and it still was doing it so I put some
seafoam in it as well and it seemed like
it ran worst after that then a buddy of
mine came over and revved it up like
two times and it ran great again until I
put about 6.8gallons of gas in it about
a week later and now back to running
like junk again so I repeated the same
fuel injection cleaning process that I
have stated above I am out of options I
am not mechanic inclined towards this
problem I just bought a new fuel filter
for it today it is the one that goes along
the frame rail I just need to know in
detail how to install if possible please
help me out so I can be at ease with
going places with my van again

Get the fuel pressure tested, I believe you have the single fuel rail with 6 injector ports, have the pressure tested if it's bad you may have a faulty fuel pump or regulator valve. It's possible the pickup screen for the fuel pump is loaded with crud, but to clean it you would basically be pulling the fuel pump anyhow so might as well replace it.
