floor brackets for seats very hot

Asked by GuruTP25R Jul 13, 2018 at 05:32 PM about the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I normally keep my rear seats folded down into the floor.  After running some errands, I crawled in the back to do something and discovered that the brackets that the seats latch onto (when they are in use) were very hot...too hot to hang onto.  This seems very unusual to me.  What could be causing this?  Should I be worried?

Look under the car but I am guessing the muffler or tail pipe is directly underneath the hot brackets.
