Break light

Asked by Shere Jan 26, 2017 at 02:17 PM about the 2000 Buick Regal

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When driving, my break light came on and car
started vibrating enough to rattle the passenger
side window,  then after about a mile or so the
vibrating stopped by break light was still on.  I
checked the break fluid,  it was almost full,  as well
as checked to make sure i didn't accidently push
the emergency break,  any idea what's going on?

I suspect the ABS brake control You can verify this by pulling the fuse on the ABS system....you will still have brakes but the ABS will not be working (it probably is not working correctly now anyway) If the problem goes away then you can take it to a good service center or just leave the fuse out.

It may be your car's computer needs a reboot or to be replaced. Just a thought. I had a Volvo once that did things similar to what you describe. I was on the highway, going 65 mph, and it was midnight! First, lights came on that didn't usually come on, then just as suddenly, all lights went out. It was creepy. Turns out it was the car's computer and the symptoms were warning signs.
