Heard a weird noise coming home from
work, so I tracked down where it was
coming from and a lot of water is leaking
from just under the engine itself

Check the coolant level, is it low? Could be a freeze plug on the engine went out. Coolant could also be traveling along something before hitting ground, a leaking heater hose might cause coolant to run along heads and block for instance.
