Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Shifter is stuck in park. Truck starts fine. Disconnected the battery and shifter is free to move through all gear positions. Reconnect the battery start the truck and problem returns. Could this be a neutral safety switch issue or possibly a bad ignition cylinder/ switch?

Find the shift interlock and test. If you have a console it's right under the button to manually release it if gets stuck.
