Help with diagnosis-Ford F150 (1994)

Asked by Fain7171 Oct 24, 2014 at 07:00 AM about the 1994 Ford F-150

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a Ford F-150 (1994).   The
battery indicator light (new battery so
this I would assume not the issue)
came on and I lost power steering.
As I was returning home the Check
Engine light came on and I noticed it
was starting to overheat.   It appears
to run fine outside of loss of power
steering and overheating.  I would
like to have some idea of what may
be the issue may be before I take to
mechanic...any suggestions or
possible ideas on what the issue
could be?

Is your alternator good? The vehicle will start and run with a dead alternator until the battery is depleted.
