Take it back to the shop and have them recheck their work. With the noise starting upon having this work done, it sounds like something didn't get tightened up when putting it back together. It is possible that the noise is unrelated to the work they've done, but if they make claims that it's unrelated, go to another shop for another opinion.

22 year old vehicle with 160K miles on it, of course things are going to start making noises now. Have the same shop recheck their work but you can also expect the problem to be something new, like worn ball joints, worn sway bar bushings, etc.

I did take it back...the guy said he checked his work and it was good...said it was probably my rear diff and told me to turn up my music to ignore the sounds...wow...i need help figuing out how to fix it ...its terribly loud!!! they did not say ball joints or sway bar...she does feel like she is swaying wierdly....i asked him to check the suspension he said it was good but looked no further....any ideas of what it COULD be...i would sure appreciate so i can tell them what to check next since they cant think of it themselves...lol...thank you so so much guys you are the best!!! ill relay the ball joint and sway bar ideas to them!

Differentials don't make 'clunking' sounds, usually when they do start to go bad you'll hear a whirring noise. A bad universal joint on the driveshaft may make a clunking. What is really sounds like is you need a new mechanic. (It also does not take much at all to change out differential oil.) But seriously go find another mechanic.
