Can you afford to throw away the purchase price on a gamble? Have a good BMW mechanic inspect it before you proceed with making an offer. Budget several thousand a year for repairs and maintenance. The purchase price is really just a down payment (the payments only end when you sell the car).

hmmm. ok.... im looking for a car to get into wrenching a bit.... but i don't want a money pit. and i would like to get something thats not too unreliable...

If you are not an experienced mechanic I would suggest a different car to work on. Perhaps a 4 cylinder Toyota or an older American car.
